Retro Gaming Living Room PC Build

Updated

Project Goals

  • Repurpose spare PC as a living room box capable of emulating retro console games up to the Wii/PS2 generation at minimum native performance.
  • Modify the PC case to add front-panel ports for some native controller hardware (N64 / PS1 / GC) by repurposing off-the-shelf adaptors.
  • Frictionless couch experience: launch and exit games with controller only, HDMI-CEC support for TV remote / display power control.
  • Reproducible; setup details documented so I can do it again if need be.

Specs

  • Windows 10 PC, Intel 3.8ghz, 24 GB DDR3, Nvidia GTX Something w/ 2GB VRAM, Full Size ATX Case

Software

  • Launchbox/Bigbox as primary big-screen UI and entry point to all games
